tools
and utilities to enhance your browsing experience. If you're someone who spends a significant amount of time on the web, protecting your eyes from the harsh brightness of the screen is crucial. That's why I highly recommend Night Shift, a powerful Chrome extension that automatically adjusts the colors of your browser content to the warmer end of the color spectrum after dark.
With a total rating of 4.5 and positive user reviews, Night Shift has become a must-have for many users. Let me share my own experience of using this extension based on the reviews and its impressive rating.
Eye-Protective Colors and Screen Brightness
One of the standout features of Night Shift is its ability to change the screen brightness to special eye-protective colors. Whether you prefer warm colors from the provided list or have a specific color in mind, Night Shift allows you to customize the screen tinting to your liking. By applying warm and eye-protective shades to your screen, Night Shift ensures a more comfortable browsing experience, especially during nighttime computer usage. Unlike other extensions that simply offer a dark mode, Night Shift goes the extra mile by providing a variety of colors that are gentle on the eyes.
Scheduled Color Adjustments for Convenience
Night Shift understands that everyone's preferences and routines are different. That's why it offers three scheduling options to automatically adjust the colors of your Chrome browser:
-
Sunset to Sunrise:
Night Shift will shade the colors every day automatically on sunset, giving your eyes a break without any effort on your part.
-
Off:
If you prefer to manually enable Night Shift, you can easily toggle it on to start protecting your eyes.
-
Custom:
For those who have specific schedules, Night Shift allows you to set up your own color adjustment schedule, so you have complete control over when the warmer colors kick in.
Enhancing Your Browsing Experience with Custom Color Themes
Night Shift doesn't just stop at providing eye-protective colors. It also allows you to set color themes for specific websites. This means that you can have different color adjustments for different websites, ensuring the best browsing experience possible. Imagine having a relaxing, warm color palette for your favorite news website and a soothing, cool color palette for your favorite entertainment platform. Night Shift makes it possible.
Furthermore, Night Shift works seamlessly with most websites, except for the Chrome Web Store and Home Page due to Chrome Browser policies. But don't worry, simply open any other website such as YouTube after installing the extension to witness Night Shift in action.
Conclusion: Protect Your Eyes with Night Shift
If you value your eye health and want to reduce the strain caused by excessive screen brightness, Night Shift is the perfect Chrome extension for you. With its ability to automatically adjust colors, customizable scheduling options, and website-specific color themes, Night Shift enhances your browsing experience while taking care of your eyes. Say goodbye to eye strain and hello to a more visually comfortable browsing experience. Install Night Shift today and make a positive change for your eye health.

Super cool
Won't properly save the address of websites on whitelist. Only want to apply on google maps but will list google.com instead.
I've tried every dark mode extension I could find, and this is the first one I've found that actually accounts for websites set up with tables. The others made the background dark and left glaring white lines, which felt even worse from the contrast. Using with Chrome 120.0.6099.129 (Official Build) (x86_64)
Night Shift is not working well with the latest version of MS Edge browser. It flashes white or some random color. Sometimes when I'm a web page, it'll flash my desktop as though it was an x-ray. Edge is unusable unless I disable Night Shift.
Can you add an optional textbox for hex/rgb input. I'm unable to use so many cool colors from online palettes.
every time you change page or click on a link, the page flashes white..
Brilliant. I just love it.
Hope you can Add RGB to choose more colors.
great!
my favorite one, other "dark modes" just do everything black and text extra brightly white whish is not nice at all but this one instead adds a layer on the whole website making it less bright while not changing the colors
